Tough as hardwood and plentiful as it is a fast growing plant, bamboo makes an ideal eco replacement for traditional hardwoods. There is no end to the horror stories from tropical countries where demand for hardwood has meant clear cutting of ancient forests to feed the North American demand.

The decision was easy for us to make. In examining the options available for home furnishings and decor, the only other option in the market was the cheap metal+resin products. Enough has been said of the harm to mother earth from our mining activities and emissions from plastics factories so we wont even touch on that. The part that we like the most about our furniture is that when you're done with it, you could literally chop it up and use it as mulch for the garden!

In the exact same vein as our eco fashions, we believe that this product will bear the lightest footprint in terms of energy and carbon emissions used in its production, impact on our natural environment in its growth and harvest and ultimately, its disposal.

Our selected source for this product is Vietnam . Our decision to work with this factory was based on the fact that they understood our mandate and was willing to work with our small volume to create what we all hope will be long term gainful employment for these villagers.

All our products come all natural. No lacquers or finishes were applied. Bamboo in itself is tough enough to withstand most elements for a long time.

Care for bamboo.
In an indoor environment, we do suggest using a spray bottle to mist the furniture once a week especially in the dry air of the winter months.While all our bamboo has been naturally air dried, there is some humidity left in the woods and prolonged exposure to our dry environment can cause some splitting.

If you plan to use these furnishings in an outdoor environment, we suggest finishing it off with an all natural wood finishing oil. This can be applied as soon you receive your shipment. For your first application, we recommend using the oils generously to get it into all the cracks. Be sure to get at all surfaces underneath as well. Follow up applications can be as simple as wiping it over with a damp oiled towel.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND bringing in your furniture before the winter weather sets in, the same way you would any other wooden outdoor furnishings. For our gazebo GZ 005, another thorough application of wood oils before wintry weather will help it last!
