IN putting this natural collection together, we looked at the tree of life, the coconut tree. Its leaves or fronds provide shelter from the elements, its fruit, water and food and from its shell and trunk, we came up with these ways of using an all natural raw material.
It is prefinished with an initial coating of vegetable oil to prevent warping and cracking and it is recommended that you keep it oiled if its not in daily use.
From the coconut shell itself, we borrowed some time proven uses for this hard nut and offer it here in bowls and pots for general use. The pots also make great planters for flowers and orchids as they do not retain water. As we continue to search for natural, environmentally friendly consumer products,we hope you like what we’ve done with the humble coconut tree!
And while we were on the anti deforestation trip, we wanted to introduce cloth napkins and handkerchiefs. We won’t even start on how many trees are chopped everyday just so that we can have soft tissue papers. This is just our way of saying, hey, if all you need to do is to wipe the corners of your mouth or dab away at some sweat, please use our napkins and hankies.
Made from 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton, its one easy way to leave the forests alone.
Before your first use, please wash thoroughly with detergent and dry on it side, or in the case of our bowls, upside down. Once its thoroughly dried, usually takes about 24 hours in our North American climate, oil it. We use olive oil on our samples. Using a clean dry cloth, rub the oil generously into the coco ware. Wipe off any drips and leave the oil to soak into the coco ware. That’s it! To serve a truly tropical meal, you can use coconut oil instead of olive oil. We do recommend reoiling the coco wares after 3 washes as you will be washing off the oils everytime you wash.
